Five Truths We All Long to Know
After last week’s launch of I Want to Know, we pause to reflect on five truths that echo through every story we’ll share in the weeks ahead.
These truths belong to Deaf believers across generations, from a Deaf grandfather who once longed for Scripture to his grandson who now learns from it daily. Deaf leaders around the world carry that same hope as they bring God’s Word to life in their own languages.
I Want to Know I Have a Purpose
When Deaf believers encounter Scripture in sign language, they finally discover that they were created intentionally and loved completely.
Next week, you’ll meet Allan, a Deaf Costa Rican, who learned that God’s purpose can be seen, signed, and shared. You’ll also see how he now helps others find theirs.
I Want to Know Who Sees Me
God notices the unseen. Many Deaf people have felt invisible in both church and community, but His Word tells us He sees them.
“You are the God who sees me.” — Genesis 16:13
Soon, you’ll meet a Deaf believer who discovered this truth firsthand, and hear a story of being seen by God after years of feeling overlooked.
I Want to Know I Am Not Alone
Faith often grows through generations. One Deaf grandfather remembers when Scripture access was almost nonexistent. His Deaf children saw glimpses of God’s Word in sign language. But his Deaf grandson now has daily access to Bible stories in American Sign Language, something his grandfather once only dreamed of.
Through his eyes, we see the beauty of belonging: Deaf families worshiping together, understanding the Word, and knowing they are not alone.
I Want to Know No Child is Hindered
That same Deaf grandson loves the moment in Scripture where Jesus says, “Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them.” He hopes every Deaf child, in every sign language, will one day have that same chance to come to Jesus, to know His stories, and to understand His love.
Through his eyes, we see the beauty of belonging: Deaf families worshiping together, understanding the Word, and knowing they are not alone.
I Want to Know There is Hope and a Future
Even in places where access is still limited, hope is rising. Daphne, a Deaf believer from East Asia, found faith and purpose through Scripture in her language. She now shares that same hope with others.
As we move toward Christmas, we remember that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us so that every person, in every language, could know there is hope and a future.
Reflect and Pray
Take a moment this week to reflect on these truths. Each one represents a prayer in progress and a promise still unfolding.
Pray with us for Deaf communities waiting for Deaf churches and Scripture in their sign languages.
Together, we can raise awareness so that one day, every Deaf person can say, “I know.”
