Deaf Burundians find peace in sign language Scripture

Burundi is facing its worst turmoil since 2005, yet God is doing amazing things among the Deaf. Through DOOR’s 2-by-2 ministry, the Lord is bringing peace to Deaf Burundians like Bagara Francis:

“The past two years have been difficult for most people. Life is more difficult for Deaf people, though, because we hardly get any updates or news. Sometimes, I have to close my shop for several days due to riots and gunshots in the city.

“We had to suspend our weekly believers’ fellowship due to insecurity. Now, we only meet in houses, and only occasionally. I have many unanswered questions about the bad things happening in Burundi, but I am peaceful.

Deaf Burundians
"The Word of God in Burundi Sign Language, and the occasional Bible study, have played a big role in helping me and other Deaf Burundians navigate this difficult season."

“God’s Word addresses my concerns as a Burundian Deaf person. Through Bible passages communicated in a language I understand best, my faith is strengthened.

“I know that God has a good plan for me and all Deaf Burundians, despite the turmoil, instability, and frustration. The Word of God in sign language is helping us to move forward despite the chaos.”
